NCACTE-Business Division Advocacy and Opportunities

 

 

Members have the opportunity to participate in state and national legislative policy seminars.  In addition to professional development, members visit their representatives to express thanks for support of CTE programs as well as express ideas that would enable educators to improve their programs. 

 

 

The Broyhill Scholarship is awarded each year to 

honor a local chapter officer or any freshman or sophomore FBLA member (even if they do not hold an office) by providing tuition assistance for attending the Broyhill Leadership Conference.  For more information,  reference the FBLA competitive events program on the NCFBLA page by clicking the Broyhill Scholarship link above.  

 

 

Members meet with NCDPI consultants during Spring conference to assist with planning of summer conference. Officers, Committee chairs, and members often present sessions at conferences.  

 

 

Members are eligible to serve on or chair Awards, Legislative, Ways and Means, Resolutions, By-laws, Newsletter/Public Information, Professional Development, and Membership committees.   Committee chairs are elegible to run for office for President-Elect after one year as committee chair. 

 

 

 

Members have the opportunity to meet fellow CTE teachers (in all program areas) from across the state.  Members meet during fall, spring, and summer conferences.  View the NCACTE calendar via the Networking link above.

 

 

The business division seeks to recognize teachers who are providing outstanding/innovative programs related to career and technical education.  Members should submit their application (nominate yourself or someone from your LEA) for the 16-17 school year by December 1,  2016.  Membership must be current and in good standing in the NCACTE, and business division as of appplication submission (in order to move forward to the state awards, members must also be a member of the ACTE--if you have any questions, please email ncactebe@gmail.com). The winner of each award will move forward to  the NCACTE state awards and submit by February 1, 2017. Division Level awards :

 

NCACTE-BE Teacher of the Year... This award recognizes the finest career and technical teachers at the middle/secondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities. Members employed as full-time classroom/laboratory CTE teachers at the middle/secondary school level are eligible recipients of this award.

 

NCACTE-BE Carl Perkins Community Service Award...This award is presented to NCACTE-BE members who have used CTE to make a significant impact on a community/humanitarian cause through leadership in programs and activities that promote community involvement. This award was named in honor of the late Congressman Perkins, and is designed to recognize individuals who have demonstrated the same humanitarian concerns exemplified by Congressman Perkins.

 

NCACTE-BE  New Teacher of the Year... This award recognizes CTE teachers with 3-5 years’ experience (at the middle, secondary or postsecondary level) who have made significant contributions toward innovative and unique career and technical education programs and shown a professional commitment early in their careers. Members employed as full-time classroom/laboratory CTE teachers (at the secondary or postsecondary level) who are relatively new to the teaching profession (with 3-5 years' experience) are eligible recipients of this award
